How to create a romantic bedroom setting
|
|
|
The Bed The bed is the first item that has to be placed in the room. Every other setting will follow the choice and placing of the bed. A Queen size is the most ideal choice; nothing less. Bed style may range from simple to intricate. Mattress should neither be too soft, nor too hard, nor should it be lumpy.
Linen Floral prints if the guy is choosing the setting for the girl, and self shades of blue if it is the other way round. White is the most preferred choice as it is an unconscious balance that is singular in its definition and appeals to both. Satin or silk linen , though the most preferred choice, can be expensive, while cotton can be just as comfortable. Use velvet for additional cushions and hug pillows. Follow a color scheme.
Color Color brings life to your room. The last thing you want is to have your room look boring and depressing. Color affects the mood of romance and so the right blend of colors may convey the exact message you want to pass across to your loved one. Again, a totally white setting can be just what is needed; full of mystery, interest and a hint of purity. Red, white, gold and silver appeal to both the sexes, bringing out passion and zest for life. A hint of pink may be used to appease the girl, while shades of mauve can have a soothing effect on the guy. Avoid colors like green, orange, yellow and grey for linen, especially when these colors are to be the dominant shade. You might be able to get away with just hints of these shades.
Light Soft dim lights are always very effective in creating that right mood and spirit that is most ideal for romance. Candle light can have a very soothing and relaxing effect, but for safety reasons should be used with care. Electric lights with a brightness control are the safest. They require no messy clean up after use as opposed to candles.
Flowers Red Roses are the # 1 choice for most romantics. However, pale pink can add just that right touch of pure, innocent love. Daisies, gardenias, carnations, sunflowers, lilies and orchids are also some favourite choices of romantic flowers. Using the right choice of flower can send across that message you so subtly want to convey.
Furniture Do not clutter your room with unwanted furniture. This is not your office or your place for a magazine collection under your bed. Keep it simple. Have a bedside table with a lamp, and place enough for a vase of flowers. For those who have more space, it would be advisable to place a coffee table with two chairs too, in the bedroom. Place your vase of flowers on the coffee table. Champagne or wine with two glasses may also be placed, ready for use. Chair cushions may be in matching or totally striking colors.
Drapes or Curtains Drapes and curtains should complement the linen colors. They do not necessarily have to be the exact shade, but may be in a brighter or paler tone. Filigree or tassel work is good as long as it is not too gaudy and does not stand out from the rest of the décor colors.
Music Have a music player set up in advance. Pre-select your music so that you do not want to jump around changing the tunes from time to time. Add fuel to your fire with soft music to complete your romantic setting. Nothing can be more soothing and yet invigorating than the blend of music and romance in your bedroom.

Things Needed An imaginative mind A bedroom with basic furniture Linen of choice Additional hug pillows and cushions, if desired Soft light bulbs to replace any harsh, bright lights Candles, if particular Flowers Music
Tips & Warnings Know your partner. Do not try to over do or have your way with the arrangements. Avoid candles as it can cause furniture and linen to catch fire in no time, if careless. Make sure you know what each flower stands for, before gifting a bouquet or setting it in the bedroom.
